MINIMUM WAGE IN HONG KONG IS EXPECTED TO BE HK$29

Members of the Provisional Minimum Wage Commission have on a minimum wage of HK$29, plus or minus a few cents.

The Commision will pass their recommendations to the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, and he will then decide whether to accept the recommendation or  recommend other ideas on the minimum wage  that would be protected by law.

The Minimum Wage Ordinance in Hong Kong was passed by the Legislative Council on July 17. Legislators must next decide whether to accept or reject the rate chosen by the chief executive. The minimum wage is scheduled to start in the first half of next year.
