China’s trade deficit with Southeast Asian nations has sparked worries that the biltareral free trade agreement that was put into effect this year, has contributed to the trade deficit.
China’s trade surplus ballooned to $7.5 billion in the first seven months of , this year compared to $400 million in the same period of last year, due to the free trade agreement
According to the Ministry of Commerce, China’s non-financial investment in ASEAN was estimated at $1.2 billion and ASEAN’s investment in China was $3.1 billion in the first half of this year.
